Did you know that when we go through significantly stressful life situations, the strong emotions that the event generates continue to remain within our body? The residue of stuck emotions remains within us and gets retriggered from time to time bringing our energy down.
Over twenty-five years ago, psychiatrist Dr. David Hawkins researched and published what he referred to as an 'emotional frequency chart', placing various day to day human emotions on a scale based on the corresponding frequency it creates in the person experiencing it. Emotions such as shame, guilt were on the lowest of the scale while love, joy and peace were found to be on higher end of the scale.
Dr. Hawkins also stated that the lower emotions tend to reinforce each other keeping a person stuck on lower end of the scale. The way out of the negative loop is to fully process and release these emotions. This release depends on developing 'courage' to encounter these difficult emotions, no matter how unpleasant they are.
If you feel overwhelmed or lost on how to do that, I have good news for you. Creative art therapies offer a safe, contained and structured method to process difficult emotions and transform them into higher emotions, in a non-verbal format.
Come along to my next Creative Self-care workshop on Transforming Difficult Emotions or book your own individual Creative Therapy session, if you wish to give art therapy a go. While the workshop is a therapeutic group, you are not required to share your personal experience in order to benefit from the workshop. Follow-up individual support will be offered to all participants if needing to later discuss their situation confidentially.
Booking for the creative self-care workshop on Transforming Difficult Emotions closes on 11th of April. Afternoon tea and all art supplies will be provided. For more information and booking visit the booking page here.
Love,
